Gourmet Sandwiches You Can Make in Your Office

  |     |   Food and Drink

Eating at the office can get really old pretty quickly. You might find yourself stuffed with a foray of frozen entrees, or, if your freezer gets emptied out, you could find yourself stuck with cold cuts and boring bread for days on end. Of course, there's always the option of eating out, but that quickly adds up to a luxury expense that'll make your wallet cry after a short while. Fortunately, when the residents of The Woodlands apartments are feeling hungry at work, they've got these great tips they wanted to share.

Deli Hoagie

A little deli meat goes a long way with this deli hoagie. If your workspace has an underutilized toaster oven, it's time to put that bad boy to work. With a little bread, meat, cheese, and veggies, an everyday lunch hour can easily turn into a gourmet endeavor.

Manhattan Hot Shot

Get ready to serve up a gourmet entree the right way, even if it's on a paper plate. A Manhattan Hot Shot only needs a few key ingredients: a slice of bread, deli meat, gravy, and mashed potatoes. Here's the key—you can buy single-serving mashed potatoes at the grocery store, and all you need to do is add hot water. Couple it with a jar of gravy you can store in the fridge and you've easily got lunch for a few days (unless you feel like sharing some with your soon-to-be-jealous colleagues). All the work is done in a microwave. You'll have a feast ready in minutes.

Don't get lost in the simplicity of this luxury. BLTs are the perfect lunchtime dish, particularly if you're serving them up fresh. Bacon (both pork and turkey) actually does quite well in the microwave. While your slices are nuking, stack the rest of your sammie by slicing fresh tomatoes, laying down a few pieces of lettuce, and topping off toasted bread with the right amount of mayo.

BBQ Chicken Sandwich

Rotisserie chicken at your grocer's deli can't be beaten! Combine some of the tender meat (which will shred right off the bone) with BBQ sauce, microwave it for a minute or two, and slap it onto a bun. Voila! A gourmet sandwich that needs no introduction.
